Both these print documents share similar visual techniques, but also the combinations produce two different results. They both display contrast, but the magazine cover also has complexity and repetition that makes it "fuller" and more complex. The skateboard ad obtains simplicity as well as contrast making it on the simple side. They both have juxtaposition but the magaizne cover makes the print portray depth. Although the ad does show depth too it's more the photography than the juxtaposition between the text and image. Both have similar techniques but they are used in different ways, therefore; appearing differently. The contrast of color causes the cover to obtain boldness and the contrast of the black and white in the ad shows harmony.
